What we made

Thought we'd share some pics of the day and of the 3 projects that we made at Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Yesterday I showed you the workroom before the ladies arrived, well here they are trooping in, getting a coffee and getting comfy.

 And they're off and running...

Here are the ladies hard at work at my work station, group 1.......
And feeding time at the zoo (Sarah you look like you're going to murder someone lol)

Group 2, hard at work......
Fiona away to get her revenge with her camera - am dreading seeing her pics, i think she might've intentionally been trying to take pics of my double chins
and my last group of the day concentrating hard
So what did we make at my table? well of course it was based around promarkers and I went for simplicity. We coloured our Hero Arts Butterflies monochromatically with Cool Grey promarkers, concentrating on blending shades of grey to decorate a wee pen pot and notebook wallet....

Want to know what Kath and Anne were making? then pop over to their blogs for more pics and gossip from the day.
And we had better start planning the next Girls Just Want to Have Fun day  :)

Sunday 29 May 2011

What a day!

I'm feeling just like Kath is today - I don't remember being hit by a truck either lol.
I guess it must be adrenaline withdrawal, after all the excitement leading up to and during the Girls Just Want to Have Fun yesterday.
Kath, Anne and myself had a fan-tab-ulous day and judging by the anonymous feedback forms that we got back it seems that everyone there did too.

This is what the room looked like before everyone arrived, and if you come back tomorrow we'll be showing you some pics of the day and what everyone made

Now for the Oscar speech bit, I want to thank my incredibly talented and imaginative crafty buddies Kath and Anne for being the driving force in our wee venture and thank you to each and every one of the fab ladies who made the day a success by attending. I also want to say thank you to all the ladies who didn't attend, but who left us all good wishes and sent us good luck for the big day. A massive thank you to Letraset, who provided me with amazing prizes of blending 12-packs of promarkers, to Anne for providing a Stampin' Up prize, to Fiskars for providing prizes and to Charlotte at The Papeterie for providing a box of card. And last but not least to Charlotte and Rachel at The Papeterie for all their help leading up to and on the day.

So, I'm away to unpack my tote from yesterday and then chill out with Graham for the rest of the day - he's away offshore a few days earlier than planned and has a stupid o'clock check-in tomorrow morning so it'll be an early night tonight. But don't forget to pop back and see some more pics tomorrow

Girls Just Want to Have Fun - Today's the Day!

Today's the day!
I think we're all organised and ready for anything.
I'm so looking forward to seeing some old friends again and to meeting some new ones. Talking of which, Mrs Sugar Nellie herself is coming and I made this card for her. She recently started a RAK on the Sugar Nellie FB group and this is the thankyou card I made for her.
Now as some of you will know, I'm not really into the Magnolia and hÄnglar & stÄnglar images, but I know that Karen has a bit of a soft spot for hÄnglar & stÄnglar, and I just so happen to have won one in a blog candy from Elaine.
Image coloured with promarkers
papers are Basic Grey Eva scraps plus corrugated kraft, core'dinations for the pink mats and the greeting is PI. Card blank is craftwork cards

will be back tomorrow with pics from Girls Just Want to Have Fun :)

Tuesday 24 May 2011

Are you ready?

We're just putting the finishing touches to the workshops for Saturday - final meeting to cross the t's and dot the i's is tomorrow morning at Chez Kath's.
If you've been keeping tabs on Kath's blog you'll have seen some sneaky peeks this week, especially of the fabulous goodies from Fiskars of our special badge prizes. Well I asked the lovely Paul at Letraset for some  goodies to give away and I'm so chuffed with what he's sent me to give away on Saturday...

Unfortunately, one of the ladies who had booked for Saturday has been admitted to hospital and won't be able to attend - get well soon wishes to Karen!
But it means that we have 2 places free - so if you missed out on a place here's your chance to join us - just email Kath for all the details. All you need to take is yourself and if you have a favourite pair of scissors you can take them too, but there's no need for anything else, we'll be supplying refreshments and lunch, and all supplies for your 3 projects.
Kath has done all the name badges and they look fantastic - just hope she remembered to make ones for Anne, me and herself too :)

Saving Daisy

I was very touched to read about this story on Kirsty Wiseman's blog, a facebook friend of Kirsty's has a wee Jack Russell called Daisy and basically, long story short, we need to raise £1600 to pay for her vets bills or she will be put to sleep. Now the reason this story struck a chord with me is because Daisy is owned by a lady called Janey and her son Tom who has Aspergers which is a condition on the autistic spectrum, and some of you know that my son Scott is on the spectrum too.

If you pop on over to Kirsty's blog you can find out all about the raffle she has organised, so for a small donation you are not only helping raise the necessary funds to save Daisy's life but you could also win some crafty goodies.

More Blog Candy??

This is now closed

Yup, that's right I've got more blog candy up for grabs, so here's another chance to win
So what goodies do I have for you this time? well how would you like - one of the most popular Simply Sassy stamps designed by Krista Smith for Sugar Nellie? this one's a beauty - Butterflies & Pigtails
Some brand new Tulip design die cut greetings and dimensional elements
2 new Papermania 5x7 clear stamp sets - Celebration and Frames
A selection of Me To You papers
And a pack of Papermania Embossing folders

All you have to do is lift the pic and post on your blog - either on the sidebar or in a post, linking back to this post, and leave your details in Mr Linky

Sugar Bowl #59

I've been scared to mention Mr Blogger and his wee tantrum for fear of tempting fate, but wow - didn't realise just how much time I spent on blogger until I couldn't get on it lol

Anyway, just thought I'd sneak in a wee post before we take the girls across the dual cabbageway to Brewsters.
Erika has done the sketch this time over at the Sugar Bowl and chosen the theme of vintage/distressed. Now, as you know, I'm not very good at vintage or distressed but I'm always up for a challenge and like to try things that are not in my comfort zone.

Image: Guinivere, Simply Sassy from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers (burnt orange, coral, sunkissed pink and blush for her skin, Walnut, Cocoa, Cinnamon, Tan and Almond for everything else)
papers from my stash, tobacco card from The Papeterie, sentiment ticket is Tim Holtz adage tickets, Kaisercraft pearls coloured with Walnut promarker.
I die cut some browm core'dinations card with inverted scallop circle nesties, then embossed with cuttlebug Clockworks folder and sanded to reveal the colour core. Then I added some trim to the back of the circle
Here's some close-ups...

I'd like to enter her into
The Sugar Bowl - sketch + distressed/vintage
Stamp Something - anything goes
Cute Card Thursday - so distressing

So I'd better go get ready to go to Brewsters, so the girls can run off some steam and graham and I can put our feet up - it's my wee reward to myself for making a big dent in the kitting up of my workshop for the crafty day on the 28th with Anne and Kath. Kath's up to her eyeballs this week getting her workshop ready so Buddy will be taking over her blog, and if I know Buddy he'll be giving stuff away willy-nilly lol. And Anne is busy busy with her workshop prep too - so look out for sneaky peeks from the 3 of us over the next week or so.

And last but not least - don't forget to enter my blog candy here.
