Create with your soul

I'm loving altering these notebooks - so easy to do, just decorate an A4 sheet of whatever cardstock or paper you want to use then stick it in the plastic cover which protects your handiwork, then replace the notebook inner. Couldn't be easier!!
materials:
diamond white cardstock from The Papeterie
Visible Image stamps: "create with your soul", "time after time"
Tim Holtz stencils: harlequin, clockwork, shatter
Distress inks, black archival ink

I'd like to enter this into the following:

Sun Ray Tag

I'm on a bit of a roll with the Tim Holtz style tags, so today I'm sharing another sample I made for The Papeterie, this one is more in keeping with the bright cheerful colours that I like...

I'd like to enter this tag into:

12 Tags of 2014 - January

I'm trying to catch up with the 12 tags from the beginning of the year that I didn't have time to do at the time, so first up is January...
I had to substitute a few components that I didn't have -

This is what it's supposed to look like -

Scotland the Brave

I've seen "Scottish" stamp sets before, and they've never really lived up to my expectations -  they're great in theory, but actually using them for anything practical has always fallen flat... until now!
The lovely folks from Visible Image were recently at The Papeterie for a weekend of demos and workshops -  and they have made an exclusive Scotland set for us, you can only buy this from The Papeterie. Click here for details.
So I've made a couple of samples for the shop using distress inks on watercolour paper...
I used: Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserve and Crushed Olive distress inks
I'd like to enter this one into
Simply Create Too - Celebrate your country
Just Us Girls - watercolour stamping

I used the same 3 colours of distress ink for this tag.

Farewell Ryan

One of the laddies that worked in the IT dept at work left to go to a new job, and as he helped us quite bit, especially with the Sue Wilson charity DVD last year I made a leaving card for him from all of us at The Papeterie.
I really enjoy making male cards - I think it's probably because I was never a pink, girly girl. And I'm really loving using the Tim Holtz layering stencils for various techniques.

materials:
Kraft card
Distress Inks: Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Gathered Twigs
Layering Stencils: Croc, Chevrons, Woodgrain
Visible Image sentiment stamp from Scotland set exclusively available from The Papeterie
Tim Holtz Idea-Ology: mini gears, game spinners, long fasteners
Seam Binding
Clear embossing powder

Straight after I inked through the croc stencil onto the tag, I covered with clear embossing powder - even though the Distress Ink looked dry, the embossing powder still stuck to the inked parts, creating this great effect. I also did this on the card panel with the chevron stencil and 2 different colours of distress ink

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:
As You Like It - heat embossing, because of the glossy effect it gives this otherwise flat project
Aud Sentiments - any sentiment for a guy
Papertake Weekly - for the boys
Craft Your Passion - for the boys

12 Tags of 2014 - June

As some of you know, I've recently had quite serious surgery - I had a total hip replacement on the 20th of May. And because nothing is ever straight forward with me, they had to fit a special bantam hip as my bones are narrower than normal. They also didn't cement it in, so I have to be extra careful with it. At the moment I'm managing to get around on crutches and it gets a little easier every day, but I've still got a long way to go.
But at least now I can sit at my craft desk long enough to get some crafting done.

And the first thing I wanted to try was this month's Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - June Tag.
This is my interpretation...
I had to use some of the foliage instead of the gears that Tim used on his. I also didn't have the same butterfly stamp/die set, but substituted it with the smaller stamps I did have - then hand cut them out.
This is Tim's original version.....

I really enjoyed getting back into crafting - and it inspired me to do some more tags, which I'll share soon.
