and flexmarkers that I’m used to and I’m learning to use them a little
differently because of this. If you’ve watched any of my tutorials you’ll know
that I tend to work from dark to light, starting with the darkest shade,
blending it out with the next lightest shade and so on. This method doesn’t
work so well with the Everblend markers – at least not for me. I’ve found that
I get better results by first laying down the palest shade as a base, then
going back to the dark to light method. I’m not sure why, but that seems to work best
for me. The markers are juicy, but not overly so, so there's a good flow of ink and they dry quite quickly. There's a great range of colours so it's easy to find colours that blend well together. <o:p></o:p></font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b><font face="georgia">Conclusion</font></b></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">So in conclusion.... I like the Everblend markers and I would certainly recommend them, they are a good price, I like the feel of them in my hand, they're sturdy and comfortable to hold, they're juicy without being overly so. There's a good range of colours in the 120 set which includes 3 neons and a blender pen, the skin-tones pack is well worth investing in and has a fantastic selection of colours that suit pretty much any skin tone you care to think of. </font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">I'll continue to put them through their paces and will share the results on my blog as I go.</font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">You can buy Everblend markers and other products <a href="https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1464974&u=2434448&m=72563&urllink=&afftrack=">here</a>.</font></p></div><font face="georgia">thanks for visiting, </font><div><font face="georgia">it's always nice to hear what you think so feel free to leave me a comment </font></div><div><font face="georgia">Debz</font></div>Wiccababehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01655766677593741167noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1716142892678053809.post-29242109220507490152020-07-05T08:00:00.041+01:002020-07-05T15:17:47.728+01:00Arteza Everblend Markers Review Part Three<div><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia"><b>Additional colours and sets</b><o:p></o:p></font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">So, in addition to the 120 set, Arteza also have a 60 set, a 36 grey set, a 36 skin tone set and they also sell individual colours in packs of 4. I found this last offering a little strange, I’m not sure of the thinking behind that. I can see the benefit of it if I were either a retailer or an educator – if I were to do classes then it would be a great idea to be able to buy 4/8/12 or more of each colour, but to the individual artist/crafter it wouldn’t be terribly cost effective.<o:p></o:p></font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">The Arteza site has a great chat facility so I was able to ask a few questions about the other sets. None of the 60 set are unique colours, so if you buy the 120 set there’s no reason to buy the 60 set, you’d just be duplicating half your markers. Of the 36 grey colours there are only 11 unique colours, personally I didn’t think this warranted the extra expenditure, however of the 36 skin tones, 32 are unique colours so this was definitely work it.<o:p></o:p></font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">In total there seems to be 162 colours in the Everblend range, but trying to get all of those without unnecessary duplicates is going to prove a little difficult.<o:p></o:p></font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"></p><ol><li><font face="georgia">I decided to purchase the skin tones, Because I’d be maximising the number of unique colours I had and </font></li><li><font face="georgia">Skin tones are a pretty integral part of my colouring.</font></li></ol><p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia"><o:p></o:p></font></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qnOpRRGZV6A/XvpIguJBDzI/AAAAAAAAXiI/i49jzdggsAwesALaH6ExzLA0e7U7WZAwwCK4BGAsYHg/s990/everblend-art-markers-set-of-36-skin-tones_HBeX-26m_990x990.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><font face="georgia"><img border="0" data-original-height="990" data-original-width="987" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qnOpRRGZV6A/XvpIguJBDzI/AAAAAAAAXiI/i49jzdggsAwesALaH6ExzLA0e7U7WZAwwCK4BGAsYHg/w399-h400/everblend-art-markers-set-of-36-skin-tones_HBeX-26m_990x990.jpg" width="399" /></font></a></div><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">I have to admit to being a little like a kid at Christmas when they arrived and initially thought I’d integrate the colours into my existing colour chart. However once I had sampled all the colours and also realised that there aren’t enough slots in my carry case for them all, I decided to make up a skin tone colour chart as a separate entity, you can download it <a href="https://www.4shared.com/office/mBOHoAgniq/colour_chart_everblend_-_skin_.html">here</a>. I think it will actually be more helpful to me to keep the skin tones separate – time will tell. I may integrate the brown shades at some point as I use those for lots of other things besides skin, but at the moment I’ll just keep the whole set separate. The 36 packs come in a plastic case with 3 plastic trays of 12 markers, not as practical as the marker case and I may have to invest in an empty case at some point but it’s fine for now. Another side note, that’s another plus, Arteza also sell the empty carry cases both for the thicker markers like Everblend that would also accommodate other brands, but also for the thinner barrelled watercolour markers and pens.</font></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S8AAkoUVx4M/XwHgtazixEI/AAAAAAAAXnk/43M1ls-Vd84JrfWq-4dwXNsNQ39EFnUUQCK4BGAsYHg/s2937/106762063_734769383991206_4369785644514918133_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><font face="georgia"><img border="0" data-original-height="1573" data-original-width="2937" height="268" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S8AAkoUVx4M/XwHgtazixEI/AAAAAAAAXnk/43M1ls-Vd84JrfWq-4dwXNsNQ39EFnUUQCK4BGAsYHg/w500-h268/106762063_734769383991206_4369785644514918133_n.jpg" width="500" /></font></a></div><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">Part 4 to follow/</font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia"><o:p></o:p></font></p></div><div><font face="georgia">thanks for visiting, </font></div><div><font face="georgia">it's always nice to hear what you think so feel free to leave me a comment </font></div><div><font face="georgia">Debz</font><br /></div>Wiccababehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01655766677593741167noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1716142892678053809.post-30729713200427823672020-07-04T08:00:00.001+01:002020-07-04T08:00:06.283+01:00Arteza Everblend Markers Review Part Two<div><div><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b>Markers<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">My initial thoughts about the markers; they appear to be really good quality, the barrel is a good sturdy size and being triangular it offers a good, comfortable grip with the added advantage of not rolling away when you place them down – unless you’re on a decent slope obviously :S The white barrel and caps are streamlined and don’t feel cheap or budget in any way, the printing both on the barrel and caps are clear and well done, no smudging and I don’t think they’d be easily removed through normal wear and tear. The ends of the caps are coloured to match the colour of the marker and when they are on the marker there is a narrow line of the marker colour at the bullet nib end – which I think is a great detail, so when the marker is lying flat you get an idea of the colour without having to pick it up needlessly.<o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-skYOdqxFy1I/XvpIhboiMXI/AAAAAAAAXiI/dAwK_e3Xl1w1OTF6kN9HIS4FmcBR9cm3wCK4BGAsYHg/s990/everblend-art-markers-set-of-120_MZRrhaxG_990x990.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="970" data-original-width="990" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-skYOdqxFy1I/XvpIhboiMXI/AAAAAAAAXiI/dAwK_e3Xl1w1OTF6kN9HIS4FmcBR9cm3wCK4BGAsYHg/s320/everblend-art-markers-set-of-120_MZRrhaxG_990x990.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kKrsqYIqgBg/XvpIg_iKwdI/AAAAAAAAXiI/eSw9b-5AYVcV2iGV-guWHzqxgkaLNA8MgCK4BGAsYHg/s990/everblend-art-markers-set-of-120_H0HK2A2e_990x990.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="990" data-original-width="990" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kKrsqYIqgBg/XvpIg_iKwdI/AAAAAAAAXiI/eSw9b-5AYVcV2iGV-guWHzqxgkaLNA8MgCK4BGAsYHg/s320/everblend-art-markers-set-of-120_H0HK2A2e_990x990.jpg" /></a></div><p class="MsoNoSpacing">As I touched on there, these markers are double ended with one end being a bullet nib and the other a chisel nib – both incidentally can be replaced easily. Being totally honest here, with the type of colouring that I and many other crafters do, I’d prefer a brush nib where the chisel nib is, because I very rarely do use the chisel nib. But I do understand that I’d use that end more if I did more graphic work.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">Both types of nibs are replaceable and can be purchased separately.</p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b> </b><b>Colour</b></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing">The next thing I did was look for a printable colour chart – unfortunately at the time of doing this review Arteza don’t have this, blank or complete, they have advised that its something theyre working on though. A quick search online, and I found one which I printed off and promptly coloured in – then quickly realised it didn’t suit my needs. So I set about creating my own. This process takes a bit of time and trial and error, but I decided to set the colours out in an order that makes sense to me and roughly follows the format of the colour charts I’ve produced for Promarkers and Flexmarkers in the past. I also set them out in rows of 18 as there are 18 slots in each row of the carry case – yeh, I know, I’m quite anal lol!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ueVurFdVeN8/XvpNXnCBi5I/AAAAAAAAXjI/EIVP0DpEu3QOiAsfHF8LkMEyyFy9KoFSACK4BGAsYHg/s854/everblend%2Bcolour%2Bchart%2Bpic.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="501" data-original-width="854" height="294" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ueVurFdVeN8/XvpNXnCBi5I/AAAAAAAAXjI/EIVP0DpEu3QOiAsfHF8LkMEyyFy9KoFSACK4BGAsYHg/w500-h294/everblend%2Bcolour%2Bchart%2Bpic.png" width="500" /></a></div><p class="MsoNoSpacing"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;">So here’s the colour chart I created – if you like it you can download it from</span><span style="text-align: left;"> </span><a href="https://www.4shared.com/office/hsHECOLWiq/colour_chart_everblend_-_120_s.html" style="text-align: left;">here</a><span style="text-align: left;">. affordable level.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">So I decided to treat myself to the 120 set which comes
complete with a carry case, so here goes my review……<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia"><o:p> </o:p><b>Arteza Everblend Markers</b></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">I initially ordered the 120 set – mainly so that I would
have as many of the colours as possible in one go. </font></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZFeD4IJ4Wz0/XvfXb2qYs9I/AAAAAAAAXgM/UYCHozCZMpM_NcTaFbChbk65dbsfuli1QCK4BGAsYHg/s700/everblend-art-markers-alcohol-based-set-of-120-everblend-markers-arteza-101817_700x700.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><font face="georgia"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="700" height="500" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZFeD4IJ4Wz0/XvfXb2qYs9I/AAAAAAAAXgM/UYCHozCZMpM_NcTaFbChbk65dbsfuli1QCK4BGAsYHg/w500-h500/everblend-art-markers-alcohol-based-set-of-120-everblend-markers-arteza-101817_700x700.jpg" width="500" /></font></a></div><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b><font face="georgia">Carry Case</font></b></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia"><o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">They arrived in a custom made carry case that is sturdy
and practical and not at all bulky. <o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">The case has a Velcro and buckle closure so there’s no
chance of this popping open by accident, it also has a carry handle as well as
a shoulder strap so a lot of thought has been put into the design of the case
clearly. <o:p></o:p></font></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6causgUZyGY/XvpIhiVINgI/AAAAAAAAXhw/Kg0Cvpau1WQbUGLOpMSl-Xea_GOzhzGzQCK4BGAsYHg/s990/everblend-art-markers-set-of-120_uTBY-7p6_990x990.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><font face="georgia"><img border="0" data-original-height="846" data-original-width="990" height="426" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6causgUZyGY/XvpIhiVINgI/AAAAAAAAXhw/Kg0Cvpau1WQbUGLOpMSl-Xea_GOzhzGzQCK4BGAsYHg/w500-h426/everblend-art-markers-set-of-120_uTBY-7p6_990x990.jpg" width="500" /></font></a></div><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">Once the case is opened up you find that the sides have
Velcro too so you can open these up for easier access to the markers which all
have their own elasticated ‘slot’. There are a few other marker brands that
have a similar holding system, but this seems to be far superior and better
thought out. So as you can see from the photos you can have everything very
neatly held together or opened out depending on the situation. There are also
an extra few empty slots – I’d imagine for you to expand your collection of
everblend markers or even to add in your favourites from other brands. I
thought about adding in the colours I use for white skin from my promarkers as
initially I couldn’t find a suitable colour combo in the Everblend markers, but
I’ll get to that later in my review.</font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia"><o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">The section that holds the markers can also be removed
from the body of the case, it’s all held in with heavy duty Velcro – I have to
say, I really can’t fault the case at all.<o:p></o:p></font></p>

many brands of markers aimed specifically at the craft market these days! </span></div></div><div><font face="georgia">Of
course my first thought went to <b>Copic</b>, but I didn’t seriously consider
them as they are wayyyyyyyy out of my budget. I’m a little anal – I know this
is not a surprise to those who know me – so I wouldn’t have been happy having
Ciaos, I would have wanted the Sketch markers but both are very much out of my
league financially, so they were a very quick, very hard pass. Now I know this
might sound very dismissive, if I just bought the markers as and when I could
afford them that would break it down a bit. But being a fairly experienced
colour-in-er-er I want to have the whole set, or as near as possible. So
without a major bank loan or maxing out my credit card that was just never
gonna happen.</font></div><div><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia"><o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wuEFnHzT4mU/XvfXcUg6-LI/AAAAAAAAXgA/v_jWBsIawh4i7MF4OWH8psLsqkEkSO9eQCK4BGAsYHg/s1127/shinhan.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1092" data-original-width="1127" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wuEFnHzT4mU/XvfXcUg6-LI/AAAAAAAAXgA/v_jWBsIawh4i7MF4OWH8psLsqkEkSO9eQCK4BGAsYHg/s320/shinhan.jpg" width="320" /></a><font face="georgia">Another brand I dismissed pretty much instantly was <b>Spectrum
Noir</b>, I tried these years ago when they first came on the market and they
were dreadful (again, my opinion), however, I do believe they changed the pens,
including the formulation of ink. Which is a good job as the originals were
pretty much an exact copy of the ShinHan Touch markers – to look at, such a
shame they didn’t copy the quality while they were at it!. But the main reason
I didn’t entertain this brand is because I refuse to buy from the company that
owns it, on principal. <o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia"><br />Anyway, I digress, so what other brands to consider? Well
there’s a plethora of off-brand markers on eBay and Wish but I’m just not keen
on buying something like this without some kind of warranty or guarantee. </font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">I have a little experience with the <b>ShinHan Touch</b>
markers, and I love them, both the brush markers and the ones with the bullet
nibs – great quality and easy to use but difficult to get hold of in the UK.<o:p></o:p></font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q69S3p0LA1k/XvfXbKxHYkI/AAAAAAAAXf0/Qs1PFr7FaVspKnLW4EqVR4VtrlVPYXLgACK4BGAsYHg/s1000/Chameleon_pens_in_box.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="652" data-original-width="1000" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q69S3p0LA1k/XvfXbKxHYkI/AAAAAAAAXf0/Qs1PFr7FaVspKnLW4EqVR4VtrlVPYXLgACK4BGAsYHg/s320/Chameleon_pens_in_box.jpg" width="320" /></a></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">Another brand I tried, and I really wanted to like these,
were the <b>Chameleon pens</b>. I get the theory, you don’t need a handful of shades
of one colour because you can get a massive range from just one pen, but they
are not easy for the kind of colouring I do. They’re great for fairly simple
colouring, where the object goes from light to dark, but I have no idea how you
would colour a face and hair without it taking hours and hours. They are lovely
markers, albeit a little on the long side and I love the idea of the colour
tops so you can get a seamless blend from one colour to another but for me, they’re really not much more than a novelty.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p><font face="georgia"> </font></o:p><span style="font-family: georgia;">Now, I didn’t want to be splashing the cash willy-nilly
and buying lots of different markers to try so instead I did a bit of research
online and found some comparison articles</span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia"><a href="https://copicthinking.com/getting-started-with-copic-markers/best-copic-dupes/">copicthinking</a><o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p><font face="georgia"> </font></o:p><a href="https://jillcameroncreations.com/alcohol-marker-comparison/" style="font-family: georgia;">Jill Cameron Creations</a></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><a href="https://craftandleisure.com/best-alcohol-based-markers-1078/" style="font-family: georgia;">craft and leisure</a></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p><font face="georgia"> </font></o:p><span style="font-family: georgia;">amongst others. I also had a look at online reviews for a
lot of the markers I hadn’t tried or hadn’t heard of.</span></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZFeD4IJ4Wz0/XvfXb2qYs9I/AAAAAAAAXf8/-guU9IrUZPoAnTAt3dnuN_MdWVRkugN0wCK4BGAsYHg/s700/everblend-art-markers-alcohol-based-set-of-120-everblend-markers-arteza-101817_700x700.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; font-family: "times new roman"; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="700" data-original-width="700" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZFeD4IJ4Wz0/XvfXb2qYs9I/AAAAAAAAXf8/-guU9IrUZPoAnTAt3dnuN_MdWVRkugN0wCK4BGAsYHg/s320/everblend-art-markers-alcohol-based-set-of-120-everblend-markers-arteza-101817_700x700.jpg" /></a><span style="font-family: georgia;"></span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p><font face="georgia"> </font></o:p><span style="font-family: georgia;">I stumbled across the <b>Arteza Everblend </b>markers by
accident, it was one of those spooky adverts that pop up on social media that
reminds you that everything you do online is being watched lol. So I popped
onto the Arteza website and quickly discovered they produce a vast range of
arts and crafts media, lots of pens and paints, pencils and sketchpads etc, but
the <b>Everblend</b> markers intrigued me.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">I’ll be honest, I was quite sceptical about them, if they
were any good then surely I’d have heard about them, wouldn’t I?<o:p></o:p></font></p><p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="georgia">So I did a bit of research online and they seemed to get pretty consistent good reviews. <span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Hi everyone,<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing">

<div class="MsoNoSpacing">
<b><span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Learning to live in Lockdown<o:p></o:p></span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing">
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing">
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">Lockdown 2020 has thrown up a lot of challenges for
pretty much everyone across the globe. For me, this has meant adjusting to
working from home which has taken a bit of time to get used to, and to get into
a workable work/life balance. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing">
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing">
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">I very quickly realised that I missed my daily commute.
I’ve always said that this is my “thinking time”. On the way to work it’s my
time to think about what my plan for work is, what else I need to do during the
day, it’s also the time where I can call doctor/school/dentist etc to make
appointments or whatever. On the way home it’s my time to process my workday,
think about what I have to do in the evening as well as whatever else is going
on in the life of my family. It’s the time where I speak to people only if I
choose to, and I don’t hear “mum, where’s …” , “mum, can you….” “mummmmmmm”. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing">
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing">
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">I also came to the realisation that this is also my
winding down time, where I can switch off working Deb, and turn on home Mum, so
without this commute, I found it very hard to switch off from work, it would
carry on into the evenings and weekends so that I didn’t feel like I was doing
anything else but work.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing">
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">But once I did realise this, I made a conscious effort to
“leave work” one Friday night and spent the whole weekend relaxing, just chilling
out without looking at work email or checking the work social media channels or
messages. And I think I needed it, the creative juices started flowing again
and I got back into the greenhouse, pottering around with seeds and tiny
plants.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing">
<span style="font-family: georgia, "times new roman", serif;">So I started managing my weeks a bit better, setting
aside set working hours and then remembering to walk away from it when my work
day was done. Sometimes it’s still a wee bit of a struggle, I was answering
social media enquiries at 11.30pm the other night, but on the whole I think
I’ve got it more or less sussed.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Are you impressed? <div><br></div><div>This is the third project I taught at the 2019 Winter Craft Retreat at Papeterie Crafts. This wee notebook is super cute and a great size to pop in your bag either for notes on the go, or as a wee journal.</div><div><br></div><div>The Eileen Hull Passport die from Sizzix makes cutting all the components of this notebook a breeze. I cut the front and back covers and the spine from the 600gsm board, the signature covers from Oyster Contour card and the signature pages from Watercolour Paper (as alway all paper and card is from <a href="thepapeterie.com" id="id_66e9_40b5_ba1c_93e9">Papeterie Crafts</a> )</div><div><br></div><div><img id="id_1811_de89_dc22_c6ad" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/mGeBInCsBpxqgThUqn0oSGzD4Vux3XJepxTvdiCS03m9Xq2d0f8IuLLOLu8" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"></div><div><img id="id_19c7_4dbd_e1fb_2bcb" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/0HmZBItnuz4Y9M_c2Ap2PGoTVdQL8Jgzpxe-iNs-GyOHp0c8-NdIbVEDnKg" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"></div><div><br></div><div>Distress Inks were used to colour the cover and signature covers - Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron and Spiced Marmalade then used a selection of stamps to decorate.</div><div>Finally, to finish it off I cut the skull from the Tim Holtz Skull and Crossbones die and heat embossed it with Verdigris embossing powder then several layers of UTEE.</div><div><br></div><div><img id="id_c81d_6b7_f5d_7468" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/00O5PsmUhPiNB6edgNGXOPdPUWt7BhK1te_L-lT9UUVOeui8op0t_2MP05w" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"></div><div><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br></span></div><div><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);">Thanks for reading</span></div><div><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);">Debbi<br></span><br><br><br><br></div><div><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br></span><br><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br></span><br><br></div><div><br></div>Wiccababehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01655766677593741167noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1716142892678053809.post-20485723719099255382019-09-11T20:55:00.001+01:002019-09-11T20:55:44.638+01:00A study in blue and tanGood evening folks, back again with the second project from my first day of teaching at the 2019 Winter Retreat.<div><br></div><div>This project features an mdf book box kit from <a href="madhatterscrafts.com" id="id_8a29_e2f5_2ba5_f350">Madhatters Crafts</a> and loads of Tim Holtz sizzix dies.</div><div><br></div><div><img id="id_f66d_aca7_647b_c83e" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/MG0-s4mPFW253ht0VzWQ1NjCimBEIn-l2E6XLgmgtAloeqV43h0_wvlFxuc" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"><br><br>Firstly the book box was assembled and painted with chalk paint, while it was drying I cut the following Tim Holtz dies from my favourite Oyster Contour card: Garden Greens, Big Ticket, Butterfly duo and embossing folder. And out of 600gsm board I cut the Caged Bird and the key from Hardware Findings. I embossed the big ticket with a cuttlebone embossing folder, and the butterfly with its corresponding embossing folder then coloured all the die cut pieces (except the key) with Weathered Wood and Tea Dye distress inks. I heat embossed the key on both sides with Stampendous Aged Silver embossing powder. And finally I tied the box closed with some brown seam binding . </div><div><br></div><div>N.B all card and paper used is from </div><a href="thepapeterie.com" id="id_7fa9_a15d_b0f7_963e">Papeterie Crafts</a><div><br></div><div>Thanks for reading again</div><div>Debbi </div>Wiccababehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01655766677593741167noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1716142892678053809.post-29951361107809898832019-09-10T23:17:00.001+01:002019-09-10T23:17:50.345+01:00Back in the saddleWell wow, what can I say, it’s been a wee while.... life can get so busy sometimes and time passes so quickly. Will stop for a proper catch up hopefully next month as things slow down a wee bit.<div><br></div><div>But in the meantime I thought I’d share some projects that I taught on the first day of our 6 day long 2019 Winter Retreat. We limited numbers for those choosing to opt for the whole 6 day retreat to give a new experience. At our usual 2 and 3 day Retreats we have a set format of 2 or 3 tutors each teaching 3 classes per day. So to mix it up a bit this time we have a day of me teachers no, a day of Charlotte teaching and a day of Jean teaching. That then leads us back into our normal format for the last 3 days. Teachers no for a whole day means we can be a little more relaxed with timings, and perhaps have some more involved projects than we normally would, as we are not restricted to one and a half hour class durations.</div><div><br></div><div>Anyway, before you get bored, I’ll stop waffling on and share my first project with you.</div><div><br></div><div>First up was my wrapped journal featuring the Eileen Hull Wrapped Journal scoreboard die from Sizzix (662816)</div><div><br></div><div><img id="id_71e5_87dc_551b_eb0c" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/06QTAegw1tj1fm4_OGm9GD0CxqHtdAaGVhOM-aX3z4m6UaeDmx0fDiI5iPI" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"><br><br>I also used a couple of Movers n Shapers dies to create the wording and globe to cut into the leather paper that I used to make the wrapped journal.<br><br></div><img id="id_5004_f291_f160_e1b9" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/G9RCgyAXHy68CWMbA1LUuI69T1Sy8ts-LoVcMP9gjUYa1tcIJL7eyO-4RN4" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"><br><br><div>The wee notebooks inside were made using Oyster Contour card and Parchment paper from </div><a href="thepapeterie.com" id="id_d969_d0dd_6673_a216" target="_blank">Papeterie Crafts</a> and coloured with Distress Inks - I used my usual Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and Mustard Seed and the spritz and flick technique.<div><br></div><div>I’ll pop back tomorrow with another project</div><div>Thanks for reading</div><div>Debbi x</div><div><br></div>Wiccababehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01655766677593741167noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1716142892678053809.post-42315259751831199852015-10-25T09:00:00.000+00:002015-10-25T09:00:04.600+00:00Travel Journal Folio<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This is one of those projects that you wont get finished in class, it's designed for you to take home and complete with your own photos, knick-knacks and souvenirs.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So we started out with the small Tim Holtz folio - the wee foldy up bitty that you get for the inside to make the spine of all the pages and inserts is so simple and so clever.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So we used my very favourite card - Oyster Contour from Papeterie Crafts - this is great card, it's paler than the Ranger Manilla and has a hammered texture, and best of all it stands up to lots of distressing techniques, and because of the hammered finish you get some gorgeous finishes.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So we clear embossed some of the stamps before we distressed all the panels I had pre-cut with a mixture of Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Gathered Twigs, and Evergreen Bough distress inks, splattered some water at them, and used the same inks to do some stamping.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iFUxXZOF04w/ViuXfk-6XmI/AAAAAAAAU_k/pbUTC7QCO6Y/s1600/folio1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iFUxXZOF04w/ViuXfk-6XmI/AAAAAAAAU_k/pbUTC7QCO6Y/s640/folio1.jpg" width="550" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> Then we got to the fun bit, adding all sorts of tags, diecuts, pockets, fold-outs etc to the spine. So there was lots more distressing going on, and adding some rub-ons and chit-chat stickers....as well as making a clever wee travel journal with lots of pages, from the Tim Holtz Vintage Valise die</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">back with another project from the craft retreat - this time I'm sharing an altered wine box. I always have at lease one bottle of something to give as a gift at xmas, and by decorating the box it comes in it kinda doubles the gift.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So I'd been experimenting with the Sizzix hexagon dies - they are designed to be used for quilting, but I've used them here to create a faux quilted effect.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Basically I die cut a load of hexagons from the galvanised and gold leaf paper from Papeterie Crafts. I've used paper for a reason - I used card for the first prototype and found the card was a bugger to stick round the box, it kept trying to lift. The paper is 120gsm so it's a good weight to work with.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I decided on how many different designs I wanted and put the diecuts into equal piles.... some were stamped using Tim Holtz stamps and Ranger White Pigment ink, some are embossed with Tim Holtz embossing folders, some are heat embossed and some are just plain for contrast.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rrJhlJ-Ovvw/ViuVgEhvQQI/AAAAAAAAU_Y/A3LMRSN9Psc/s1600/wine%2Bbox.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rrJhlJ-Ovvw/ViuVgEhvQQI/AAAAAAAAU_Y/A3LMRSN9Psc/s640/wine%2Bbox.jpg" width="310" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Because the hexagons don't fit perfectly around the wine box, I filled the gap and covered the lid with some Ranger Foil Tape that I'd embossed.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It doesn't matter if the hexagons are stuck on perfectly - I used a bottle of distress stickles to hide any gaps. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">You could always add more embellishments - maybe some die cut poinsettias or snowflakes to the box - or even a sleigh and some reindeer.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There's no point in apologising, I'm sure you all realise that life gets so busy at times that you run out of time to blog, or even craft.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Since we last spoke I've moved house again, back out to the country, so it's meant a bit of upheaval for everyone, especially the kids who have all had to start at new schools. But kids are resilient creatures and they've taken it all in their stride and settled in really well - although they have had the odd wobble, and miss their old friends, they have been amazing. Even Scott has commented on what an improvement his new school is.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So we've also had a few birthdays, Faith was 9 in the summer, Scott turned 16 (I know, how the hell did that happen!!) last month and Willow was 11 just the other week and oh boy those hormones are running riot there! Graham's birthday was today, but as he's offshore we celebrated it last week when I had my day off.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We've been incredibly busy at work too, we had our Winter Craft Retreat in September, which was a huge success - so much so that we're almost fully booked for the Spring Retreat, then we had Scraptacular, which was a new venture for us and something we're hoping to develop further for next year, and various classes and wedding exhibitions too.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have to say, I really enjoy the wedding exhibitions. Its so nice to talk to couples who are all excited about their wedding and hearing about their plans.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyway, now that we're pretty much caught up on all my news, I'd love to hear how all of you are in blogland.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So because it's been an age since I shared any crafting I'm going to schedule in some posts featuring the projects I created for the Winter Craft Retreat.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This was one of the first classes I taught at this year's winter retreat - back to using one of my favourite media... alcohol inks.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used a selection of Adirondack alcohol inks and Letraset inks on a variety of surfaces including glossy card and heat resistant acetate. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">back again with another project form the craft retreat - this time I decided to alter a couple of mdf tiles. These tiles are quite inexpensive but are so easy to work with.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The first one I used to demonstrate that it's not necessary to paint or prepare these tiles to make something lovely...</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZRDXCiqMjqg/VWnhQl-TuMI/AAAAAAAAUgY/PfJKXrc4qX4/s1600/image2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="574" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZRDXCiqMjqg/VWnhQl-TuMI/AAAAAAAAUgY/PfJKXrc4qX4/s640/image2.JPG" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">First we stamped the raised frame part using a brown ink, the centre panel was made using a piece of oyster contour card. First we clear embossed an image, then coloured the panel with distress ink, stamped with the same colour of ink, then flicked water at it for the splatter effect. The butterfly was also clear embossed and coloured in the same way then fussy-cut and attached over the die cut trellis</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The second one was used to demonstrate a completely contrasting finish, lots of bright colours and a primed base...</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tnW-9gjRxQI/VWnhQsQKItI/AAAAAAAAUgU/p2w2StMTgV8/s1600/image1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="628" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tnW-9gjRxQI/VWnhQsQKItI/AAAAAAAAUgU/p2w2StMTgV8/s640/image1.JPG" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The frame part of the tile was painted with a chalk effect paint for a matt finish. the background was clear embossed as before, but this time we used some nice bright colours to colour it and black archival ink to stamp a sentiment. The feathers were diecut and embossed the coloured with the same colours of distress ink, with bakers twine added to finish it off</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So I thought it might be an idea to catch up on some of the projects I did for the recent Spring Craft Retreat at The Papeterie in Aberdeen. In case you don't know, they hold a craft retreat twice a year in April and September - and one of the things that sets it apart from other retreats is that YOU can choose whether you go for 1, 2 or 3 days, YOU can choose to take the accommodation package or organise your own. AND YOU also have a choice of classes to pick from. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Aberdeen might seem like a long way away for some of you, BUT we have a fantastic international airport here in Aberdeen with great links to most regional UK airports as well as regular flights to and from all over Europe and beyond.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyway, getting back to the projects - I taught 9 classes over the 3 days, hard work but great fun and very rewarding ...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This was the Promarker Notebook, this class ran twice...</span><br />

I thought blogging was dead, but I'm happy to say I was wrong. It seems there's still a place for blogging and it can go hand in hand with other social media. So I'm going to try to post regularly again :)<div>So I thought I'd share a card I was asked to make for one of Graham's colleagues to give to her mum. </div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Oc7jsK2WO3o/VUZHQ5CCUwI/AAAAAAAAUZ4/X2vre9SRT_M/s640/blogger-image--671851132.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Oc7jsK2WO3o/VUZHQ5CCUwI/AAAAAAAAUZ4/X2vre9SRT_M/s640/blogger-image--671851132.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I used a Saturated Canary image that came on the cd with Creative Cardmaking magazine called Wine O'Clock and coloured her with pro markers and flex markers on Super Smooth Diamond White card from The Papeterie. And added a cheeky bit of glamour dust to her dress and wine glass stem.</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I used the inner part of the Sue Wilson embroidered strip let die to cut the pattern from the image layer then mounted it onto glitter card.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Debs x</div>Wiccababehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01655766677593741167noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1716142892678053809.post-11330210048543320182014-08-13T18:59:00.000+01:002014-08-13T18:59:08.200+01:00Moving <span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've taken the decision to stop blogging here for a number of reasons - life moves too quickly nowadays and blogging is way too time consuming.</span><br />
