Altered Art and Exciting News

I've been MIA again, these summer holidays are so bad for my crafting and blogging - do the kids really need this many holidays??
We had another successful Altered Art night on Thursday at The Papeterie - lots of fun and mad crafting going on.
Here are the projects that Kath, Charlotte and myself were teaching....
(thanks to Kath for the pic)
and here are some pics of the ladies hard at work with their projects...

thank you to all the ladies who came along for a fun evening :) here's the link to the instructions for my project - Finnish Star

We are having a Papercraft Extravaganza day on Sunday 7th October - Kath, Charlotte and myself will be teaching 3 new christmas papercraft projects. It's going to be busy, so book your place now, call 01224 802337.

So, are you wondering what the exciting news is? well.... The Papeterie has just announced details of their first ever craft retreat - which will be held over the weekend of 21st-23rd September. And it's not just for crafters who live locally, oh no, Charlotte has managed to secure a fabulous deal on accommodation and meals at the lovely Aberdeen Airport Thistle Hotel. So it's ideal for those of you who have always wanted to visit but never been. Tickets are available with and without accommodation.Aberdeen has fantastic road and rail links with the rest of the UK, and there are regular flights from most UK airports as well as quite a number of European and International airports - we even have regular flights to and from Baku :)
You'll find all the details on the Papeterie blog. Kath and I will be teaching classes, and look out for more info being released soon about other tutors.

The Fabulous Barbara Gray

What a treat - and what a coup for The Papeterie!!
The incredibly talented crafter and all-round nice lady Barbara Gray spent the day demonstrating to a full-house at The Papeterie yesterday.
I decided to meet my mum there mid afternoon, my theory was that it would be a bit quieter by then - not a chance!! The enormous carpark was full to bursting - and it wasn't until I left later on that I realised that the paper mill itself was closed and the half of the carpark that was usually taken up with mill staff was actually full of visitors to see Barbara. And they'd come from all over Scotland too.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you how fantastic Barbara is, she makes everything look so effortless - and she loves Diamond White too. :)
(thanks to Kath Stewart for the pics)
If you were there, can you pop over to The Papeterie blog and let Charlotte know what you thought of the day

I'm back tomorrow with a sneaky peek of my altered art project for the Christmas Altered Art evening this Thursday - there are still a few places left if you want to join us, just call the shop on 01224 802337.
And don't forget to enter my Letraset giveaway - and lookout for something new coming on Wednesday - something that a lot of people have asked me for, and I've finally got round to doing :)

Flexmarker Winner

Well that wasn't as simple as I'd hoped - I added up the 137 entries from the blog and all the entries from my Facebook page and entered the info into Random.org and hit the generate button.
It came up with a number so I popped along to the relevant blog to check they had followed the rules - well unfortunately they had failed to post a pic or link to their sidebar, so back to the drawing board to generate another number.....
So Mr Random.org selected another number, and I clicked on the relevant link to go to this second blog - but oh no, they hadn't posted a pic or link either.
So I'm very sorry folks, if you don't stick to the rules then your entry isn't valid. That might seem harsh, but it's not fair for the people who do read the post carefully and do everything I ask.
So, third time lucky.....
and that is Number 22 - Ginny.
congratulations, email me before Friday noon with your address and I'll get your fabulous Flexmarkers off to you soon.

Flexmarker Colour Combos

***This is a sticky post - please scroll down for more recent posts***
Hi there,
I'm back again with some more hints and tips on the Letraset Blog this week. I'm always being asked about what colours go together - especially when it comes to hair colours. So rather than do a tutorial of how to colour hair I thought I'd just suggest a few colour combinations that I like to use.

The Flexmarkers are perfect for colouring hair, I love the texture you can create with the flicking motion you can use with the brush nib.

My boss - the lovely Paul, at Letraset has given me 2 12-packs of flexmarkers to give away - that's right, 24 flexmarkers plus 2 blenders - worth a whopping £59.98. I requested Set 1 because there's a stunning range of bright colours - wait til you see the funky, bright hair colours on my blog post, and Set 2 because it has a superb selection of skin and natural hair tones. All in all, these 2 sets are a fantastic selection to get you started, or to add to your collection.
So here's what I need you to do to be in with a chance of winning this fab collection
  1. Hop over to my flexmarker hair combo post on the Letraset blog and leave a comment
  2. Copy one of the above pictures and post on your blog sidebar with a link back to this post
  3. Come back here and leave your details in the linky below.
If you don't have a blog then you can enter by please sharing the post on my Facebook Page on your timeline and/or your page or group instead of step 2.

The giveaway will close at 12 noon GMT on Tuesday 10th July, and I'll use random.org to select a winner shortly afterwards.

New Stuff

The girls and I had a wee trip to The Papeterie yesterday, we were getting pretty sick of the miserable weather and thick fog. We met up with Charlotte and Kath to discuss plans for the Altered Art evening on Thursday 26th July - remember to book your place to avoid disappointment. We're going to be making some fun Christmas themed accessories so you can get a jump start on Christmas decorations and gift ideas. Just call the shop on 01224 802337 to reserve your place.

I don't like to sit around when everyone else is busy, so I helped out with kitting up for tonights Craft Night. Unfortunately I'm not running a table this time as Graham's offshore. Then I helped sort out some of the new stock..... oh wow, you really need to have a trip over there. All the new do-crafts stuff is in - the new Christmas ranges: Strictly Christmas and Christmas Tidings, plus the Happy Days  and Strictly Party and Beautiful ranges. Keep an eye out for the stunning embossing folders and Urban stamps. And there is a chance to stock up on the fabulous Kraft card which is now available in 8x8 and a handy 5x7 pack. And if that wasn't enough there are also Dovecraft goodies and loads of stunning new stamps and kits from Indigo Blu.
Here's my haul...

Couldn't resist the 2 Urban Stamps and 2 tri-boss embossing folders and stocked up on Slim Jims, Kraft card and a couple of canvases. Now I just need to get peace to play with them. Might even manage to sneak a quick crafty hour in today seeing as the sun has decided to show it's face a wee bit today and the girls couldn't wait to get outside.

The Tufty Club

I know I'm getting old - but I was a member of The Tufty Club, anyone else remember it?
Well the reason I mention it is, we were out to see my mum and dad at the weekend and
they have a number of red squirrels in their garden and visit the bird table....

Sorry the pics aren't great - they were taken on my phone through mums kitchen window :) I love how squirrels use their tails like umbrellas in the rain - they are just amazing little beasties, mum can tell the difference between them all, they all have their own little personalities.
When I go to mum and dad's I have to drive up this avenue of beech trees, it doesn't seem to matter what time of year, it always looks pretty...
again, sorry for the pic, this time I used my phone and took it through the windscreen of the car :S
Well it's raining again, I have the doctor this afternoon because my sore throat still isn't any better - that's 3 weeks now!
