Passion for Promarkers - another card

This was the first card I made for this weeks challenge at Passion for Promarkers, but I decided I wanted to do something a bit different for my actual DT card - see yesterday's post.

So this was what I did with Maria's fantastic sketch....

Image: Willow with Baby from Whiff of Joy, coloured with PM's: Cool Aqua and Turquoise for shading on her dress; Pastel Pink and Coral for shading on the baby's shawl; Ivory and Blush for skin; Sandstone, Cinnamon, Cocoa and Umber for Willow's hair; Pastel Yellow, Vanilla and Saffron for the baby's hair

Core'dinations card as a base and as a mat for the image - cut using the Peony nesties in the cuttlebug, I also used a pale peachy pink core'dinations card and embossed it with the congratulations folder in the cuttlebug and sanded.

The papers are Basic Grey - Two scoops shaped with the MS Doily Lace border punch.

I also added Kars paper lace ribbon, coloured with Cool Aqua Promarker, Kanban clear adhesive gems coloured with Pastel Pink PM and the greeting is Daisy & Dandelion

The prize this week is sponsored by Cute Daisy May Digi Stamps who has kindly donated 5 sheets of downloads.

Finally here's Willow's close-up

Passion for Promarkers #10 - Cool Aqua & Pastel Pink + sketch

Can you believe we are on week 10 at Passion for Promarkers already? where on earth does the time go? am I getting old? lol

Ok, down to business, Maria chose this weeks challenge colours of Cool Aqua & Pastel Pink and has done the fabbiest sketch. So making this card was not hard work at all.

Here's the sketch that Maria designed

Promarker Challenge

And here's what I did...

As you can see, I've turned Maria's sketch upside down just to be different.

Images: Hero Arts - Four Dolls, coloured with promarkers.... I have only used 3 PM's for this: Saffron for the skin, Pastel Pink for 2 of the dresses and their cheeks, Cool Aqua for 1 of the dresses and accents on the other 2. I have done the shading by layering up the colour.

The pale pink paper was from my stash, the black cardstock is SU, the blue card is core'dinations, the ribbon is doodlebug boutique trims, the greeting is from my stash and the black card was shaped with the MS Doily Lace punch. The circles were cut using nesties in the cuttlebug and the dolls were cut out and mounted with sd foam tape.

Here's a close-up of the dolls to show how I've layered up the colour to create shading....

The prize this week is sponsored by Cute Daisy May Digi Stamps who has kindly donated 5 sheets of downloads.

You absolutely must check out all the other DT cards this week, they are truly scrumptious - you'll find the links to their blogs on my sidebar.

Xmas in July

well that's a few xmas cards under my belt so far - with a bit of luck I won't have too many to buy this year.

I had coloured yet another image in Moss Green and Poppy, so I thought I'd be as well turn it into an xmas card for the pile before it gets lost under the ever-growing pile of stuff on my desk.

Image: Christmas Honey from Sugar Nellie, coloured with PM's: Moss & Olive, Poppy & Maroon, Holly, Silver, Ivory & Blush, Sandstone, Cinnamon, Cocoa & Umber. Matted onto core'dinations card

Paper is the new Home for Christmas by Jesse Edwards @ Papermania

They are also holding a DT call if any of you are interested - and at the time of me posting this, there are only 2 entrants, so it could be your chance to join a DT.

Happy 3rd Birthday Fayfee

Its my baby's 3rd birthday today - I have no idea what happened to the last 3 years, it just seems like 5 minutes since she was born. I can remember it so well. So I'm going to bore you with the gory details...

My waters broke at 3.30am, luckily I had been getting out of bed to go to the toilet anyway and I'd dumped the towel I'd used after my shower at the side of the bed. I then phoned Graham's rig because he was offshore and asked the guy in the control room to pass on a message for me when Graham got up later. And when I told him that the message was that I was in labour I thought he was away to have a canary, he spluttered that he's get someone to wake Graham straight away lol. So after that I phoned my mum and dad, so that my mum could come in and get Willow, who was only 21 months old. I then phoned the maternity hospital to let them know I was in labour and my contractions were about 5 minutes apart, and they told me to stay put, take a couple paracetamol and if i felt like taking a bath then that was fine too - they were in no hurry to see me, even though I'd explained this was my 3rd child. They told me I couldn't phone an ambulance to take me as it wasn't an emergency, and suggested I drive myself up if my partner was offshore (it would appear that this midwife had never been in labour herself!!)

Graham then phoned in a complete panic, and I explained what was going on, don't think he took any of it in though lol. So in between contractions, I got Willow up, dressed and packed a bag for her to go and stay at Nana's house. Made myself some breakfast and a cup of tea. My mum arrived at half past four and Graham phoned again while I made more tea. My contractions were just over 2 minutes apart by this time and he convinced me to call the maternity hospital back. They allowed me to phone an ambulance at this point - which I thought was mighty white of them!

The rapid response arrived first to make sure I was ok, and soon after the ambulance arrived - they were amazed at how calm I was, and the cheeky bugger of a paramedic asked if I was having twins - mind you I was pretty big (see pic below, which was taken 2 weeks before she was born, and she was 3 weeks early!!) So I left the house at 5.20am, arrived at the maternity at 5.40am. I had to wait around in the corridor of the labour ward with the paramedics until one of the midwives decided to come and see to me.  So I got up on the bed, and she had a quick look and told me that baby would be arriving in either 20 minutes or 2 hours - I jokingly told her that 20 minutes suited me fine. So she hooked up the gas and air for me and disappeared off to see to another mum in labour. Within minutes I was past the point of no return and had to ring the buzzer thingy a few times. The midwife came in, took one look at me from the doorway and said "if you want to push, go for it" while she skidded over to the sink to wash her hands.

Faith Lauren Brockie was born at 6.03am exactly 23 minutes after arriving at hospital. And OMG I'm actually bubbling while typing this lol. And this is how she looked then...

We're having close family and friends round this afternoon, so hopefully I'll get some pics up once the dust has settled.

Olive

I meant to make a card with this image last month for the DigiStamp Boutique's monthly competition, but time got away from me in the lead up to our holiday. So better late than never eh? Talking of late, I also used the challenge #60 sketch from  A Spoonful of Sugar, but again, I'm too late to enter that too :)

I also broke into some new stash that I bought a wee while back. If you remember, back to June, I took a wee trip out to Simply Create at Alford for their Sugar Nellie event and to see Judy doing her fab colouring demo's. Well, this fabulous 12x12 paper pad jumped into my basket and followed me home. Its from Panduro Hobby and its the Classic Tilda Papercraft Paper Stack, it has 25 sheets of double-sided paper and the quality is outstanding. Its not cheap, but its well worth the money.

I chose one of the sheets that had cameos on one side and white polka dots on pink on the other side, and chopped it in half to make a 6x6 card blank.

Image: Olive with Flowers by Sally-Ann Hancock @ DigiStamp Boutique, coloured with promarkers: warm grey 1-4; blossom, rose pink, cerise, apple, grass, terracotta, spice, apricot.

papers are all Tilda Papercraft Classic Paper Stack, plus grey core'dinations card. edges were distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Tool and the image card was inked with papermania ink. flowers were punched from same paper and card with EK Success retro flower punches them embossed and distressed. Buttons are papermania, pearls are Hero Arts, and the greeting as usual is daisy & Dandelion.

Poppies

This is what I've called one of the new Gorjuss Girls until they have their proper names from Sugar Nellie - Poppies.

I was busy following Gayle sketch over at the Sugar Bowl and finished this card - then realised I was supposed to use ribbons or bows, but I thought it would take away from the simplicity of this card, so I'm not entering it. I made another card for the challenge - the one I showed you yesterday.

Image: Gorjuss Girls set #3 by Sugar Nellie, coloured with Promarkers: warm grey 1 - 4, ruby and maroon.

Paper: CCSR - the big one

red card from stash, black core'dinations card embossed in cuttlebug and sanded, greeting is Daisy & Dandelion

Here's a close-up of Poppies...

Sugar Bowl #15 - Gayle's Sketch

Am revisiting a few of the past colour challenges  from Passion for Promarkers, and these are the colours that Caryn chose a few weeks ago. I thought they were ideal xmassy colours, so here's an addition to my xmas card collection for this year. I  have used  Gayle's sketch over at the Sugar Bowl, and have included the added extra which was ribbons or bows.

Image: Snowflake by Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers: Ivory & Blush for her skin, Moss & Olive for her hat, trousers, coat and muff; Poppy & Maroon for all the polka dot trim and her shoes; Sandstone, Cinnamon & Cocoa for her hair.
I distressed the edges of the card she was stamped on with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and inked the edges with papermania ink pads.
The paper was a freebie from a magazine last year sometime, the wide red ribbon is from my stash and the narrow red xmas ribbon is Anita's. The poinsettia is an Anita's Dimension sticker layered up.
I didn't think the card needed a greeting as it says Merry Xmas on the paper and on the ribbon.
Here's Miss Snowflake's close-up.. NB this was an image I had lying around that had been stamped with Stazon, hence why the black lines are a little blurry.
