Teamie Birthday

It was Helen's 40th birthday 2 days ago - and yes I did post her card in time. But I've only just had time to post it on here, seeing as I'm off on a jolly to the Artstamps show at Edinburgh today and won't be back til late evening I thought I'd let you see it.

I was inspired by Kim Costello's tutorial in the June issue of Craft Stamper magazine, to try colouring an image in black and white.

Now, as you know, I love my promarkers but I've never tried using just my greys to colour an image. I don't have all the greys, just a couple of ice greys but I do also have all 5 of the warm greys, so I tried it with them.

I chose the Daisy stamp from Sugar Nellie because I'm used to colouring her and am fairly confident I know where I'm putting the light and shadow on her. And because she is my all time favourite.

So I'll stop blethering now and just show you the card eh?

Image: Daisy from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers: warm greys 1-5, aubergine for flowers and grass for leaves.

Paper: Black & Ivory Papermania

Purple core'dinations card cut with large scallop oval nestie in cuttlebug

white card cut using sizzix flower & vine die in cuttlebug and coloured with Grass Promarker

chipboard numbers from stash coloured with Aubergine Promarker

Anita's purple wide organza ribbon

Papermania fabric flowers, coloured with Amethyst and Aubergine Promarkers

flower button and lilac wire from stash. Lilac Pearl Pen for flower centres

And here's Daisy's close up....

Oooooh you lucky lass ... I wanted to go to Artstamps Show myself but just couldn't find the time. Hope you managed to restrain yourself and didn't overspend LOL!
You have done an excellent job of colouring with your greys and the splash of colour just gives it an extra lift.

This is gorgeous! I think all your images are coloured beautifully but it's really skillful to get such a lovely effect with just the greys. Thank you for the tutorials too, I'm practicing! Nicki, xx.
