WOYWW - tidy??

Well, I've tidied it - I was so ashamed after last week's midden shot. And I would just like to thank all those of you who offered to take all my new goodies away lol
Ok here's a piccie of my desk, and then I'll get onto explaining a few things that were asked about last week...

A few of you asked or commented about my huge silver box of promarkers, well here's a few shots to show you. It is actually a DJ's CD box or some call it a CD Flight Case. This is the one I have. It comes complete with a few hundred suspension pockets designed to hold CD's. BUT I use it to hold and transport my promarkers. I've found it very handy for taking to demonstrations and classes.
I printed off the colour chart from here, onto the cardstock that I normally use my promarkers on (this way I get a true colour representation). I coloured sticky dots with each of the pens and stuck these dots onto the broad cap end so that I can easily see the colour.
I have arranged the promarkers as per the colour chart - I could easily fit the promarkers into a smaller box but I'm a bit on the pedantic side and wanted them set out the same as the colour chart. So there is a maximum of 5 promarkers in each pocket.
There is plenty of space in the lid, so behind the colour chart (which I laminated so it doesn't get grubby) I store a pack of card and some laminated colouring examples for taking to classes and demos. **Edited to add** Promarkers DO NOT need to be stored horizontally, they are quite happy to be stored vertically like I have done. HOWEVER Aquamarkers DO need to be stored horizontally, just in case you don't believe me, or don't want to take my word for it - check out what Paul has to say on the Letraset blog here.

Next up was the big boxes of glitter. Well actually those are 2 wee Really Useful Boxes that I picked up in Hobbycraft, and I emptied 2 bottles of Glamour Dust into the top one - the reasoning for this is, I will use wee scoops (this was part of a mini set that came out of our xmas crackers) and hold the item being glittered over the box - so in theory less chance of making a mess. The other box holds clear embossing powder.

So that's me for this week, sorry I only made it round a fraction of the WOYWWers last week - will try to do better this week.

Love your tidy desk thats my sort of space and what a clever idea with the storage for promarkers lol - I too have to have them in the same order as the Pro Markers colour charts - but I am that sad that I have even numbered my pens so it makes it easy to put them away - I keep seven in each sleeve as I only have a small craft area - great minds think alike - thanks for sharing Nicky 24

That desk is really a bit tooo tidy. Please send me your 'tidy-upper-er'
We have one of these, I might have already said, but of course it has DVD's in them little pockets. Nice to know they don't mind being vertical, (Promakers)though I had some over the Christmas that were a bit 'dry' and one didn't work at all..luckily they sent me a another one, and the others work fine now..sort of...but still not as lush as my Fav Magenta one, which is FIVE years old and still going strong! Time to go...rabbiting too much

Thanks for letting us see your Promarker storage - great for you as you must need the full range of colours, etc., - me, I'll stick to my two wee boxes. Thanks also for the link to the colour chart - very useful. I've already got 3 plastic containers waiting for me to tip glitter & embossing powder into because I think it will cut down the amount of spillage and mess I get into - just need some wee spoons. Regards, Elizabeth #78

Really glad about the Promarkers not needing to be stored horizontally as I have just done this and they take up too much room on my desk so now I can happily stand them up and will be able to use them better. Glad to meet you and thanks for your comment.

oh my goodness it is so tidy at your workdesk today! I like the storage idea for your markers. I have been using Stampin Up and Copic and they both can be stored vertical or horizontal. Thanks for sharing.

PeeJay said...

LOL! Think we follow/read the same blogs. I use this method to store my Promarkers as well but I've not got the full set and didn't want such a big box so I bought one that holds 120 CDs and it's perfect for the number I've got. It's only one line of hangers and I put 7 in my pouches, in order they're on the colour chart in. I've put labels in the back of the pouches to say which colours are in (or should be) and have the coloured dots on the top as well. Works well and makes them very portable.

Love nosing at the desks ...

Your desk is beautifully tidy. I really like the way you store your promarkers. I have mine in cases for each colour group (orange and purple share). On the front of each case I have the colour group with actual ink - great to help pick which colour to use. I think your shading samples are brilliant and would love to see bigger pictures - I'm still struggling with getting the colouring right! Thanks so much for sharing, and thanks for your comment on my desk!
