Image: The Winter's Night from Gorjuss coloured with promarkers, flexmarkers and trias.
I think this image does benefit from being coloured with no black lines - especially the skinny scarf, I think I need to rework the hair on the one with no black lines too cos it looks a little odd. But I thought it would be interesting to compare the 2 side by side.
In my opinion you have to do a lot more concentrating and a lot more colouring and blending - this one could have done with quite a bit more work, but I have the attention span of a goldfish and I got bored :S
If you've tried this technique I'd love to come and see, so leave me a comment.
And I thought I'd share the pics of Faith from yesterday - her first day at primary school
too excited!!
and I was going to post a pic of all 3 of them together this morning but Willow wouldn't smile and the photo's turned out pants so I'll try and get one later.

Both versions look great but the no lines one seems to have a more realistic feel to it. Do you think the technique would work if you stamped in black ink on scrap paper then coloured on proper card over the top using a light box? I guess it may depend on the thickness of card. x Carol
Hi I had ago at this and it is amazing the difference it makes although mine is no where as good as yours might be brave and turn into a card. I have to agree I do like the no lines better and the hair doesnt need anything doing it is perfect
Faith looks as though she's ready to burst with excitement, Hope she had a good afternoon.
It's amazing how soft the "no-lines" technique makes the images. In the two samples you've posted today the lined one looks as though the girl's hair is rigid but in the other it looks so soft.
Thanks for showing us the effects.

great colour work on both but I prefer the one with the black lines...just seems to give it more definition but hey ho will probably be shot down in flames and oh my lordy....love that first pic of Faith...trying to pose...hope to see you tomorrow and you had better save me a cupcake or else...hugs kath xxx
awwww Debbi, she looks so grown up. Hope she enjoyed her first day at shcool.
I've been having a play at this no lines thingy too with limited success I may add. You did a great job with this one.

Debbi, Fabulous pics of all three - the weeist one looks so cute! Bet they are little rascals most of the time!
Loving your new way of inking so must try it soon. Will let you know but you will have to be ready to giggle as my colouring is nowhere near yours!! Sheila:)X
Hi Debbi,
Awww I remember that day very well with my daughter! She did that big grin thing too! She's 22 now but it seems like only yesterday.
I love the no lines gorjuss - I'm not sure why you don't like her unlined hair - maybe it's because it is a lighter colour?? I think the no lines makes the images look more "real" but I haven't mastered it yet so shan't be putting up my pathetic efforts just yet.
I've just read Victoria's post about the promarkers and wondered if you would be kind enough to send me the link for your colouring chart - it's a great idea and would be so useful. Thanks in advance.
hugs

Love the image which you have coloured perfectly. Also Faith looks adorable on her first day back to school.
Diane :-) xx
Aw bless her. Hope she enjoys school.
Regards image I personally prefer the image on the right with the black lines! I like the sharper and crisper image. So are you going to make me change my mind to 50-50 :)x
The hair looks fab, i must say im going to try the no line thing again! Will pull out the stamps later! Your little one looks so excited to be going to school! Mine dont go back for a few weeks yet!
Happy Crafting!

I'm going to try this. I've got angel pink ink - but never used it. I think she looks quite ghostly. Faith on the other hand is full of the joys! Fab photos. xx
I love this effect Debbi...I have been trying but all my inkpads are too dark...think I will have to invest in a new pad!
definately gorjuss debbi and it looks absolutely stunning again and faith...awwwww!! she looks as proud as punch in her uniform and sooo teeny bless her!! hope she had a super duper first day hugs Lou xxx
I think your colouring ability is amazing but if I'm being honest I do prefer the one on the right, the image just stands out more. Although the one on the left has been coloured very well it looks more like a printed image, that you might see in a magazine, rather than one lovingly coloured by hand. Just my opinion of course, have you tried stamping the image with grey so that the outline can be seen but not so obviously as when black is used? Look forward to seeing your next work of art.

what a beautiful little girl you have, she looks like she was excited about school.
Your image is fab, I wouldn't have the patience x
Awww Faith looks gorgeous & really smart in her uniform xxx
Fab colouring hun, just love the no lines look but if ya gotta concentrate then I don't think I'll be having a go lol!!
Hugs Shell xx
This image is just adorable and I really prefer it with the no-lines technique. She's so pretty. I am going to try it, but not done so yet.
Faith looks so cute in her uniform. love the pink coat too ! Do they sell them in adult sizes !!!??? LOL
Auck wee Faith looks so cute. And attention off a goldfish or not, these are both stunning colourings. I have to say, Im loving the "no black inked lines" image. Its much softer and appears a lot more natural. Just like an artists sketch. But both are beautiful. Lee x
Your daughter looks just adorable! :0) And yes this no lines technique is truly addictive isn't it? Smiles. I agree with you on the scarf - Definitely better without the lines. I prefer this image with the softer look I think. (Smiles.) Another great job hun. Hope you're feeling much better now.xx
wow she looks fabulous debbi.love the folds in her dress.
am still practising this technique :S
love the pics of your daughter, she looks so excited ,bless ;D

I hope Faith had a lovely day! I still remember my first day at primary school... and some of my closest friends are those I met in primary school! I love your colouring and the 'no lines' effect, it's so soft and feels more professional I feel! x
Great card Debbi. Think it sounds too much like hard work for me though!
What a lovely picture of Faith all ready for school. I love the fact that her sleeves are a wee bit long. My kids were always like that at the beginning of the school year. Me too. In fact I'm still a bit like that!
Hope you coped with your child-free house!

Thnaks for such a clear demonstration of the technique again; it's really helped me decide what I feel about it. I find it disconcerting - I definitely don't like it for it unsettles me - there is something not quite right to my eyes & though I appreciate the skill involved it is not something I feel a need to experiment with. I much prefer the image stamped in the usual manner & actually feel that the image has more life when coloured in the conventional manner. I think at the end of the day it is a matter of personal preference & to my mind the "no lines" technique relating to the skinny scarf reminds me too much of a snake wrapped around her neck. Thanks again for helping me make up my mind about it, I must stress it is not a criticism of your colouring - on the contrary (as I said before) - it is only after seeing a such a competent illustration of the differences created that I've been able to make up my mind in an unbiased manner. Hope that makes sense as I've waffled rather & managed to write a mini thesis.

Wow you did a great job and great pics tfs

Hi Debbi, glad to find I am not the only one who doesn't like Manolia. Thankfully not seeing so much of Tilda these days. Love this Gorjuss girl but I have to say I much prefer the one with lines. Hubby came by and I asked him without telling him my preference but he agreed with me. Cute pics of Faith, hope her day went well. Marianne x
Debbi
Oh Debbi I did an nice House Mouse e-card to you on Monday but it looks like it never got there. I apologised for not replying sooner as it was my eldest son’s 19th birthday on Saturday and we had a family tea which took it’s toll on me. I was soooooooooooo pleased with my candy and can’t thank you enough for it as it has cheered me up. It also helps to know that I can make extra cards/gifts for charity out of it as well.
In my e-card I was nosey as well and asked how your hips were doing. Even if it doesn’t work I don’t think you’ll be going through that pain and grief again as you said it was worse than childbirth.
Thanks again for the lovely candy.
Take care

I am with a few folk on here, i prefer the lined one. It looks so much sharper, crisper.
And the wee one is just so cute. I always love how they look in their new massive coats that they will grow into, lol.
