Blue Journal & Candy

well hello there strangers, hope everyone's well, yes I know its been ages - if only there were more hours in a day.

DJ Luv

I've been really really lucky lately, some of you may have noticed that I was one of the runner-up winners on Krista's Saturated Canary Pinterest Competition - I'm so honoured that Krista chose my ideda along with Angela's to come up with this pair that she called DJ Luv, they'll be available to buy as a pair on Friday 11th January over at her shop, but we got a copy first so I just had to colour them up as soon as Krista sent them. Angela's inspiration board featured the female dj character and I (of course) went with the teenage boy character - you all know how I'm constantly on the search for boy stamps :)
I used a combination of flexmarkers and promarkers:
skin: Burnt Orange, Coral, Sunkissed Pink and Blush.
blue hair: Indigo Blue, Azure, Sky Blue, Stonewash
brown hair: Saddle Brown, Auburn, Nutmeg, Light Fawn
girl's clothes: Lush Green, Green, Mint Green, Pastel Green, Vermillion, Shocking Pink, Frosted Pink
boy's clothes: Midnight Blue, Denim Blue, Stonewash, Grass, Lime Green, Azure, Sky Blue, Arctic Blue
Headphones are in Cool Greys, deck in Blue Greys

My Little Protege

Morning folks, what a dreich day again - not as bad as yesterday, it was a real pea-souper, I could barely see the car in front of me on the dual carriageway. Although I have to say there was an alarming number of numpties who didn't have their headlights on, never mind their foglights - but then I truly believe that about half the folk on the road nowadays got their driving licence in a lucky bag!
Haha listen to me, ranting again.
Today I wanted to share something with you. As some of you know, Willow collects promarkers - she is almost as precious about them as I am lol She loves to colour in - I'm forever having to print off pages of digi stamps for her, we're almost through a box of 160gsm Diamond White from The Papeterie in  a few weeks. Incidentally, if you fancy trying out some Diamond White then pop over to The Papeterie's FB page, like them and leave a message asking for a sample pack - Charlotte is giving away sample packs and postage vouchers.
Anyway, I ordered a few new digis from Saturated Canary at the weekend and Willow immediately asked me to print out Double Take for her and this is how she coloured her...
Now what impressed me most about her colouring was the subtle colouring of her cheeks which she had blended in beautifully and the way she's coloured her eyes and lips. She even had a bit of Ivory to shade the folds in the dress, but the scanner hasn't picked that up.
It looks like I'll have to keep an eye on her - she's already said she wants to be just like me when she grows up and be a craft demonstrator. Might happen sooner than I thought though :) In case you don't know, Willow is my middle child and she is 7.

Thanks for visiting,
I appreciate any comments

My Sweet Valentine

Morning,
well it's the last day of the kids' half-term/in-service days so I'm taking them to the local Brewsters to play so that I can minimise the devastation at home.

The box used to be a Lindor choc box, painted with "Paloma" Annie Sloan Paint, stamped with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and Kaisercraft grunge texture stamp. Red grosgrain ribbon from stash and fleur de lis nestabilities die to cut the red card (from The Papeterie)

My Birthday Girl

Willow, as you probably already know is my middle child and the last of the kids birthdays this year. Yesterday she was 7, she had a fantastic day. She's been on a bit of a downer for the last week or so, and every time we asked her what she wanted for her birthday she told us that she didnt want anything, and then went around with a face like a wet weekend.
So I was working blind when I went to Toys R Us at the beginning of the week - but I think I managed to get everything she likes...

The birthday girl ...

So she was highly delighted with all her presents - and her diva cake from M&S, aren't Markies cakes just yummy!!

I ended up making 2 birthday cards for the little madam - I made a pretty one with a Gorjuss stamp, but she came through to my room and decided she wanted me to use a different image, so she chose the image for this card...
Image: Janessa from Saturated Canary Digis, coloured with promarkers and flexmarkers
card blank is Craftwork Cards, paper is Tim Holtz, La Blanche flourish stamp, Papermania daughter stamp, Prima e line pearls and white organza ribbon from stash

Splash

I was scrolling down my blog the other day and realised there was a distinct lack of me actually making anything that I could show - so I thought I'd rectify that with a bit of an instant digi image hit.

I'm sure most of you will already know about Krista's new Saturated Canary digi images, and the challenge blog has just gone live over the weekend too, so for a quick fix I decided to colour Pearl, A Mermaid in.

Image: Pearl, A Mermaid from Saturated Canary Digis coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers - to get the scaly type effect on her tail, I touched the blender pen to the paper and lifted off, repeating as required.
Core'dinations card, lacy ovals and oval nesties - I wove some Anita's white organza ribbon round the lacy oval, bling clusters from The Papeterie, papers are Tilda that I got in a candy from Elaine, and I doodled the faux stitching. Pearl pen for the accents in her hair.

I'd like to enter her into:

If the Shoe Fits Scrap it - Bejewelled blue

Happy 12th Birthday Scott

Happy Saturday!
My first born is 12 today, I can't believe it's 12 years since I went into labour 7 weeks early and was in complete denial lol And who would have thought that that tiny wee bundle weighing 3lbs 5.5oz would turn into the strapping young man he is now.
This is Scott 12 years ago today...
that was the polaroid they took of him in the neonatal unit, to give to me until I was able to go see him. In fact I'm getting a bit emotional thinking about it.
Anyway, this is my big strapping lad now...

I'll show off some more pics tomorrow cos we're still mid-birthday lol
But in the meantime I thought I'd share the cards Willow and I made for him, here's Willow's one...
Willow has used Smitty Schoolboy digi from Saturated Canary Digis, and coloured him with her promarkers. She cut off one of the petals from a glittered foam flower she bought at the House of Sugar last weekend and used that as a sun.

And here's my card...
Image: Smitty Schoolboy from Saturated Canary Digis, coloured with promarkers and flexmarkers, the "son" stamp is papermania, paper is MS and star EF from The Papeterie

Better go find 12 candles for the cake, see ya!

New Baby 1

My boss at work, and friend Charlotte recently had her first baby so I had a few baby cards to make, on for Charlotte and her husband James,...
