For the first time in ages I splashed out on some of the new Vintage Adorables digital stamps at Sugar Nellie. The adorables range are unlike anything else I've seen on the market, whoever draws them has an amazing talent.
There is an amazing amount of detail in theses stamps, and all the shading has been done for you, so they're perfect for those of you who aren't confident in your shading skills.
Well I couldn't resist this one, she's called Amber, and furthermore I couldn't resist giving her purple hair :)

Morning!
Just want to say thank you to everyone who came along to my demo at The Papeterie yesterday morning and to all the lovely ladies who attended my class in the afternoon - keep practicing :)
I'm going to share some of the samples I made to showcase the Simply Sassy stamps that The Papeterie have in stock.
Today is the turn of Artistic Goddess, for some reason I always colour her with funky coloured hair - I  suppose I think of her as a stereotypical art student with wild taste in hair colour and clothing...

Blue Snow?

No, there's no blue snow - just me doing some crafting lol, I know, it seems like ages doesn't it?
I'm determined to try and enter some of my favourite challenges more often this year - although I don't want to make any promises or resolution as we all know how that goes :S
Anyway, here is one of my favourite stamps from Sugar Nellie: Journey...

Sugar Bowl #65 - entry 2

Hmmmmm, looks like this might be becoming a bit of a habit, entering the Sugar Bowl more than once per challenge. :) Not sure if could have something to do with a) the fantastic sketches (you know how I love a sketch) or b) the enormous range of Sugar Nellie stamps there is to play with.

Before I get onto my card, it's first day back at school today - Willow was up just after me at 7am this morning, all raring to go. So here's Scott and Willow all dressed and ready to go - Scott started his last year of primary school, and the P7's get to wear black sweatshirts.
Faith starts Primary 1 this afternoon, so I won't have pics of her to share until tomorrow. I've got mixed emotions about her going to school, on the one hand I will be out with the flags because it'll be the first time in 12 years I haven't had at least 1 child at home with me, but on the other hand - this is the last of my babies all grown up, so I think there just might be a tear or two this afternoon when we take her to school this afternoon.
Righto, back to my card...
Image: Strike A Pose from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers and flexmarkers
white card from The Papeterie, cuttlebug EFs, MS border punch, ricrac from stash, Fiskars flower punch, clear bling coloured with promarkers, core'dinations card

I'd like to enter her into:

Just Some Lines - embossing

No Lines

Hiya,
firstly a big thankyou to everyone who has left such lovely comments over the last few days - I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now and have been able to cut right back on the pain killers so I feel an awful lot more human now, I still can't sit for any length of time at the computer or on the settee, but hey-ho.
I have been dying to get back to crafting, even with my tramadol befuddled brain, I had loads of ideas floating around, so last night Willow persuaded me to have a crafty evening with her. Although she gets the better end of the deal here, by sitting in my bed, in her jammies and crafting til she falls asleep lol

I've noticed a bit of a craze starting for colouring images with no black lines - it's where you print a digi with very faint lines or you stamp an image using a very pale ink. So I thought I'd give it a try... I used Memento - Desert Sand ink, although I think this is still too visible, but hey, it's my first try. I'd appreciate any constructive criticism - what I mean is...
criticism = saying it's crap
constructive criticism = saying it's crap, because....
:)
Image: Pillow Talk from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers, flexmarkers and trias
papers are all BG Marrakech, core'dinations card, fiskars flower punch, ranger enamel accents for flower centres, lace from stash, white satin ribbon coloured with promarkers

I've followed the sketch at The Sugar Bowl and the optional extra of Blue, I'm also entering this into the Sugar Nellie FB group challenge this week which is "punches"

Here's a wee close-up where you can see the inked outlines still, but not as obviously as using black or dark brown ink.

Have you entered my blogaversary candy yet? remember to spread the word - the more entries I get, the more I will add to the prize pot :) so feel free to share on FB, tweet, blog it etc - just click on one or more of the wee buttons under this.

Pink and Purple and Orange, Oh My!

I mentioned a couple of days ago about that troublemaker Cathy, and how she dared me to use Pink, Purple and Orange hair ALL ON ONE IMAGE!
well, I'm not one to back down from a dare - within reason obviously, so I had one false start before I coloured this one, but I was up until 20 past 1 in the morning colouring her lol.
So this one is dedicated to Cathy :)
Image: Windswept from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers, the sentiment is from an Inkadinkado set from Funkykits.
papers are all Kaisercraft - Magic Happens, lace from stash
here's her close-up...

I've followed the SB sketch again so this will be my 4th entry into The Sugar Bowl - sketch

Pink and Purple and Orange and....

When the girls on the Sugar Nellie FB group suggested a few different colours of hair for me to try, I thought I'd just use the same image 3 times on the one card to save myself a bit of time. So here's what I did with Pink, Purple and Orange hair...
Image: Pillow Talk from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers
The filmstrip die is a double do die that I've had for ages - I used Letra Tac to stick it down as well as the MS punched border strip (letra tac is ideal for sticking down fiddly bits that are difficult to cover with other adhesives)
black card and cogs card from The Papeterie. The cogs were cut using Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets by Donna Salazar
I've followed the sketch again, so here is entry number 3 for The Sugar Bowl - sketch

Busy busy today, off out to pick Scott up from his dads and to visit my mum and dad.
There are still a few places left for our crafty day on the 1st October - all the details are here. Just email me to reserve your place

It's Hump Day

yup, it's hump day - the middle of the week. And now that the end of the summer holidays are in sight, the days seem to be passing it a fantastic rate of knots.

Firstly, can I ask the lady that telephoned and left a message on my answering machine at 10.11am on Tuesday (yesterday) please call me back or email me as the number you left me appears to be a fax machine and I don't want you to miss out on a place.

So I've been challenged on the Sugar Nellie facebook group to do red, orange, pink and purple hair which I'll be showing you over the next few days. Then Cathy put a spanner in the works by challenging me to do pink/purple/orange hair on one image - that's right, one image.

Today I'm going to show you the card I made with red hair - even though this girl has white skin she reminds me of Rihanna.
Image: Strike a Pose from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers
craftwork cards shaped card blank, black, white and red card from The Papeterie, white satin ribbon coloured with promarkers

Those of you with eagle eyes will have noticed that I left the flowers on her shoes and in her hair white - there was a reason for this, I'd planned on adding some bling :)

Anyway, I'd like to enter her into ...
The Sugar Bowl - sketch (entry 2)

Happy Birthday Kerri

Today is Kerri's 39th birthday, I've known Kerri a long time - 27 years to be exact, she was also my bridesmaid 13 years ago. Happily, our friendship lasted a lot longer than my marriage :)
Kerri is also the lovely lady I made the Home Sweet Home gift for that I showed off the other day.
Anyway, because she was at Rockness the other week, this image reminded me of hippies and festivals and so I thought it would be quite cool for her birthday card.
And what a stroke of luck that Letraset sent me their ultra-fine nibs just in time for me to colour this image properly! Scroll down to the day-before-yesterday's post to see the ultra-fine nibs review.

Image: Boho Chic from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers and cut out with Labels 10 nesties
the brown base card is from The Papeterie, the larger cogs are cut with Donna Salazar Sprightly Sprockets from Spellbinders and the smaller ones are laser cut chipboard from Make it Crafty. the greeting is PI stamped onto the waste from a Bigz XL ornate box die, the clocks paper is from my stash and the black pearls are Prima e line.

I'd like to enter her into

Sugar Bowl #59

I've been scared to mention Mr Blogger and his wee tantrum for fear of tempting fate, but wow - didn't realise just how much time I spent on blogger until I couldn't get on it lol

Anyway, just thought I'd sneak in a wee post before we take the girls across the dual cabbageway to Brewsters.
Erika has done the sketch this time over at the Sugar Bowl and chosen the theme of vintage/distressed. Now, as you know, I'm not very good at vintage or distressed but I'm always up for a challenge and like to try things that are not in my comfort zone.

Image: Guinivere, Simply Sassy from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers (burnt orange, coral, sunkissed pink and blush for her skin, Walnut, Cocoa, Cinnamon, Tan and Almond for everything else)
papers from my stash, tobacco card from The Papeterie, sentiment ticket is Tim Holtz adage tickets, Kaisercraft pearls coloured with Walnut promarker.
I die cut some browm core'dinations card with inverted scallop circle nesties, then embossed with cuttlebug Clockworks folder and sanded to reveal the colour core. Then I added some trim to the back of the circle
Here's some close-ups...

I'd like to enter her into
The Sugar Bowl - sketch + distressed/vintage
Stamp Something - anything goes
Cute Card Thursday - so distressing

So I'd better go get ready to go to Brewsters, so the girls can run off some steam and graham and I can put our feet up - it's my wee reward to myself for making a big dent in the kitting up of my workshop for the crafty day on the 28th with Anne and Kath. Kath's up to her eyeballs this week getting her workshop ready so Buddy will be taking over her blog, and if I know Buddy he'll be giving stuff away willy-nilly lol. And Anne is busy busy with her workshop prep too - so look out for sneaky peeks from the 3 of us over the next week or so.

And last but not least - don't forget to enter my blog candy here.

Purple & Green

Have been trying to get time to enter The Sugar Bowl challenge for the last fortnight, I really couldn't pass up a challenge that included using Purple could I?

I've used the fab sketch from Maria Therese and also the optional theme of Purple & Green.
Image is the beautiful Faith digi from Sugar Nellie (no prizes for guessing why I bought this one), coloured with promarkers.
papers are all Stampin' Up, MS Doily Lace punch, Tim Holtz mini rosette die, Craftwork Cards greeting.

I'd like to enter her into
The Sugar Bowl - sketch plus purple & green
 Promarkers - anything goes

Stamp with Fun - birthday

Have you booked your place on our Girls just want to have fun crafty day on the 28th May? There are still a few places left, so don't hang around. You'll find all the details on the post below.

Fabulous Darling

Firstly I'd like to apologise to all those who went along to The Papeterie last Saturday to see my demo - I finally succumbed to the horrible bugs that have been doing the rounds and spent the majority of the day on the toilet with my head in the sink. But the good news is it's rescheduled for this Saturday instead - so if you're at a loose end on Saturday morning come and see me.

Secondly I want to apologise to all my bloggy buddies, I haven't been very well since Saturday and so haven't been doing any blog visiting. But fingers crossed, we are past the worst of it and I'll get back to normal soon.

So here's a wee card that I've done for a few challenges that I wanted to enter..
Image: Fabulous Darling from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers
Patterned paper is Basic Grey, Lime Rickey, I embossed some green core'dinations card with a Country Companions folder, added some velvet ribbon from Craftwork Cards, paper flowers are Prima e line and papermania, pearl brads are American Crafts
I took this angled pic to show you the areas where I used a clear star sakura pen.
And the one below is a close up of her hair..
For some reason there's a kind of Irish/St Patrick's Day thing going on here - it was purely accidental.
Anyway, I'd like to enter my card in...

Sugar Bowl - sketch & Spring
Sugar Nellie FB Group, week 7 - embossing
Papertake Weekly - Triple Tastic - 3 flowers, 3 brads
Allsorts Challenge - Luck o the Irish

Oscar and a Teaser

Morning!
it's getting closer to the end of the week, and tomorrow I'll be away on a wee jaunt across town to meet up with my crafty buddies Anne and Kath and blonde deliciousness that is Buddy for a catch up. This'll be the first time we've got together since - is it as long ago as the SECC?? Then I'll probably see them both again plus Jacqui at Simply Create for the shop relaunch and Kath's Hero Arts demo. If you are within driving distance of Alford then you really must see Kath in action - the woman is amazing.

So what have I been up to? well with a lovely tidy desk again (see previous WOYWW posts) it's been a joy to craft. And it will be even better from now on because after hopping round half of the WOYWWers yesterday I decided that I needed a hutch for the top of my desk as the wee shelf just wasn't cutting the mustard. I did my usual and googled "desk hutch" but oh my goodness they are expensive, and with "adapt and overcome" being my motto of the moment - I had a bit of a brainwave. I had previously picked up a faux leather DVD holder at Asda, and that was where I kept all my 8x8 and 6x6 papers, so I thought I could turn it on its side and it would make a great hutch - especially if I bought another 2 so that it stretched the length of my desk. So last night was spent rearranging all my bits in my nice new hutch, but I won't show you just yet - think I'll keep that wee surprise for next week's WOYWW.

I think I mentioned before that I'd splashed out on the 4 new soft centre stamps from Sugar Nellie last week. Just to be different I decided to colour Oscar the Owl - he's dead easy to colour.

Image: Oscar from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers
papers are all Cosmo Cricket Earth Love, stitched on . The brads are papermania and the wooden button is from a stall at the SECC in October.

I followed Kiki's sketch at The Sugar Bowl, so I'd like to enter him there
as well as
Fab n Funky - Animal Magic
Crafty Creations - Its a Bird Thing - plus polka dots and green
Creative Card Crew - For Men

LOL I nearly forgot the teaser - tomorrow I will be back with some fabulous candy, have some brand spanking new goodies from Letraset to give away and after my clear out I've unearthed lots of other goodies to give away too - including some of my favourite Sugar Nellie stamps, so remember to pop back tomorrow.

Sassy Fairy Tale

Sugar Nellie have released so many new stamps lately that I'm having trouble keeping up. There are the fun and funky Simply Sassy range - which I have to say are soooooo my kinda thing, the Simply Adorables which are hugely popular, the very beautiful new Leanne Ellis designs and some super cute new animals in the Soft Centres.
Unfortunately I'm not made of money - more's the pity, so I've had to be pretty selective, especially as there are more stamps to be released soon. I've chosen to go with quite a few of the Simply Sassy's and all 4 of the new Soft Centres, I don't have a lot of animal stamps and these were just irresistable. Have a nosey over on Funkykits and see which are your favourites

In keeping with my wee promise to myself to enter a few challenge blogs regularly - I've made this card for the Sugar Bowl using Kiki's sketch. I coloured this image the other day, and then though "ugh, where on earth will I find papers to go with this". Well I'm a big believer in the "adapt and overcome" ethos so this is what I came up with - inspired by Ali's CAS and WOW designs

Image: Fairy Tale from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers
white green and pink cardstock is all core'dinations, I used the cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder and the craft concepts butterfly embossing folder. The brads and greeting are Papermania.

So I'd like to enter her into:

Simply Sassy Calendar

I'm not one to make New Year Resolutions, but I have decided that I'm going to try my best to enter a select few challenge blogs on a regular basis this year. So of course The Sugar Bowl has to be top of that list of selected challenges as where would I be without my favourite Sugar Nellie stamps.

I made this calendar yesterday for the SFL teacher who runs the Lego Club that Scott goes to. Scott absolutely loves going, and I think every school/community should have a Lego Club. Anyway, she was over the moon with it.

Image: Hippie Chick from Sugar Nellie, coloured with promarkers.
Papers are Cosmo Cricket Earth Love, cardstock is all core'dinations, lace from Angel Crafts, card candy from Craftwork Cards
Here's a close-up to show you the image in more detail and also the embossed panel under it.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:
The Sugar Bowl - sketch plus embossing
The Crafty Calendar Challenge - new beginnings (new year)
Cupcake Craft Challenges - something new (new year)
