Busy Weekend Heading This Way

It's nose to the grindstone stuff today here at Wiccababe HQ in preparation for a busy weekend of demos and classes.
Tomorrow (Saturday 15th October) I will be demonstrating the new Flexmarkers at The Papeterie in Aberdeen from 10.30am to 1pm
Then in the afternoon from 1.30pm I'll be teaching a Promarker techniques class - I think there are one or two spaces left if you fancy - call 01224 802337.


Then on Sunday I will be demonstrating Letraset Products including Promarkers, Alcohol Inks, Aquamarkers, Letratac and Safmat at the brand new Hobbycraft Store in Dundee 


So if any of you are within travelling distance of Aberdeen or Dundee I'd love to see you - remember don't be shy, just come and say hello :)


I can't share any of the samples with you yet, so I thought I'd share this card instead, it's for a special crafty friend of mine.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun - Today's the Day!

Today's the day!
I think we're all organised and ready for anything. 
I'm so looking forward to seeing some old friends again and to meeting some new ones. Talking of which, Mrs Sugar Nellie herself is coming and I made this card for her. She recently started a RAK on the Sugar Nellie FB group and this is the thankyou card I made for her. 
Now as some of you will know, I'm not really into the Magnolia and hÄnglar & stÄnglar images, but I know that Karen has a bit of a soft spot for hÄnglar & stÄnglar, and I just so happen to have won one in a blog candy from Elaine.

Paper Artsy meets Promarkers

If you've been paying attention (and even if you haven't I doubt you missed the fact) you'll know that my super crafty chum Kath had the class of a lifetime with Tim Holtz - her idol. And the naughty lady brought Anne and myself some goodies home with her, including this gorgeous stamp set from Paper Artsy. Now this arty, grungy stuff isn't normally my style at all - but I'm definitely enjoying doing something new. Now these aren't the colouring-in type of stamps, but my trusty promarkers were not going to be made redundant in a hurry, so this is what I came up with...

I used Arctic Blue, Sky Blue, Azure and French Navy promarkers to colour a panel of card, then stamped the butterfly image from the Petals Plate 6 from PaperArtsy with versamark on top of my coloured background and heat embossed in black.
The smooth kraft and black card is all SU, the corrugated card is from Simply Create, the letters are kaisercraft from Merly Impressions and I used the letrajet with an Azure promarker, and a That Special Touch mask from Angel Crafts to make the polka dots on the corrugated kraft. And I nearly forgot the very bold MS Scroll Heart deep edge punch.

well the kids are off school again today - going by the announcement on the local council website, our head teacher is still optimistic that they'll open tomorrow though (can't see it myself) There is now a backlog of flights at the heliport so it's starting to look a bit dodgy for Graham getting home on the 23rd. And I'm not sure if Tesco are even going to attempt my delivery on the 23rd, if they don't well it'll be beans on toast or maybe just beans for xmas dinner


Here's some more things I haven't shared with you, these are another 2 of my entries for the Cardmaking and Papercraft mag's Cardmaker of the Year competition. This first one was for the LOTV category...

butterfly was made by sticking various ribbons onto light card and using a Sizzix Bigz butterfly die to cut out.

argh, it's July already!

Well the kids broke up on Friday - so we are now in for 6 weeks of hell, oops, I mean fun and sun!

Made the remaining teachers cards, and to save myself a load of grief I just kept with the simple design of Faith's ones - doing Scott's teachers' ones in blue and Willow's teachers' in pink.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day - Graham spent most of it inside the house though, sorting out my new laptop and transferring all my stuff across from my old one. I did a bit of weeding - where on earth do all those weeds come from?? then got bored so sat in the sun and read my book. I was on my last book - I absolutely hate not having anything to read, so treated myself to an Amazon order, the new Tess Gerritsen, the new Stuart MacBride, 9th one in the womens murder club from James Patterson, The Eclipse Novella - The short 2nd life of Bree Tanner, the new Sookie Stackhouse. So I now have plenty to keep me going over the summer hopefully, after I've finished the Time-Travellers Wife.

Today we took the kids to the cinema in Union Square to see Shrek 4 in 3D - and it's fab, you must go and see it. Although I have to say it's a bloody expensive afternoon out - 40-odd quid for the tickets for the 5 of us including 3d glasses, then another 20 quid for popcorn, juice and sweeties, and then another 20 odd quid for tea at Burger King. But hey-ho, the kids loved it and so did Graham and I.

When we got home we noticed something strange out at sea, so we had to go out and take pics to see what it was - according to Graham it's a jack-up being towed - A jack-up rig is a type of mobile platform that is able to stand still on the seafloor, resting on a number of supporting legs.

While we were out having a nosey at that, Graham took some lovely pics of the garden - here's my Alliums..

And here's a really cute idea I pinched from the nursery - I filled the kids' old wellies with compost, planted some nasturtium seeds and voila...

Spot the Difference

I ran out of time to make Faith's playgroup leaders' thankyou cards - I'd forgotten that they broke up a week earlier than the school. I had started colouring in some of the new mangas from Sugar Nellie, but quickly realised I just didn't have time. So... I thought I'd go with clean and simple... just a cuttlebug embossed panel, matted, and a wee embellishment flower. Well that was the plan , and you know what happens to the best laid plans....

In my infinite wisdom I decided to use one the gorgeous Marianne D ribbon flower die cuts - bit of a pain in the bum and surprisingly time consuming!

So, I made each of the flowers slightly different...

I embossed the SU Kraft cardstock with the Thankyou cuttlebug folder, then trimmed and matted it onto either lilac or purple core'dinations card and attached the panels to craftwork cards scalloped card blanks

The Marianne D ribbon flowers were cut from the same purple and lilac core'dinations cardstock and threaded with ribbons from Angel Crafts (apart from the purple satin ribbon on the 2nd one) The little swirl is an EK Success punch from Simply Create.

Seeing as the sun is in hiding today, I'm going to have a quick scoot around doing the housework then nose to the grindstone to make 7 more teachers cards for Scott and Willow, and hopefully a start on some cards for Jacqui's Save the Children event at Simply Create. If I'm not back by the weekend, send a search party lol

Passion for Promarkers #42 - Mango & Bright Green

It's Tuesday again, which means another new challenge over at Passion for Promarkers. This is our last colour combo for a wee while and it was chosen by our current GDT, Sarah W. So we want you to use the promarker colours: Mango and Bright Green.

Now, I know this is going to look and sound a bit bizarre (I'm an Aquarian, what do you expect?) but that colour combo just screamed "CARROTS" at me. Don't ask!! my brain seems to be wired up completely randomly lol

Digistamp Boutique - March Release and DT

Morning folks, hope you all had a good weekend.
It's the first of March already - 2010 seems to passing at the speed of light and today is the release of Sally-Ann's new Spring Coco and Friends collection over at Digistamp Boutique

I took a wee break from accounting the other night and made a nice quick and simple card - I love these quirky wee flowers from Sally-Ann at Digistamp Boutique, and I thought the card design needed to be completely unfussy to do them justice.

Week 15 already, where does the time go eh? Well seeing as all the DT have done their colour challenge weeks and we are back round to the fabulous Caryn's turn again, its all change over at Passion for Promarkers.

Willow's Nursery staff thank you cards

Well this is a first for me, I'm not usually a fan of Magnolia stamps - and yeh I know I'm in the minority here. But I've been looking for a school/teacher related stamp for ages and couldn't really find anything that appealed to me - except of course Lindsay's freebie card kit which I used for Scott's teacher's cards.

So when I was down at the Artstamps show in Edinburgh at the beginning of the month I spotted the Study Tilda stamp and thought she'd be ideal for Willow's cards.
